It's been a while since I updated the blog. Just couldn't find the inspiration. All the games prior to this past weekend don't seem too interesting. Yeah both Arsenal and Chelsea scored a lot of goals in those early games but they're just not too exciting. This past weekend was different. It looks like the season has finally started in full swing. This is what the Premier League is all about. Spurs managed to win with some late goals against Wolves on Saturday. Wolves played well too. Man U, Man City and Chelsea all finished off with 3 points yesterday. Good fair amount of goals. A very dramatic game between United and Liverpool with Berbatov being the hat-trick hero, Pele style(Did you guys see the second goal? That was classic). And Liverpool really gave United a run for the money. For me, I like Liverpool so much better with Roy Hodgson as manager now. They will come back and do better, but it will take a bit of time. To win. I am sorry Liverpool fans, just not yesterday. Not at Old Trafford. Can't really comment too much on the City game cause my attention was too much on the North West derby, but I heard Tevez did well. Always please with that. Chelsea and Blackpool, what can I say? Happy to see Blackpool not concede anything more than what they have. John Terry was just sitting at the stands with his kids watching the game.
Next week, we have the "money teams", Chelsea at the City of Manchester Stadium. Over or Under?

    Pure entertainment.

Sometimes you just don"t give a fook. And that's exactly how I feel today about the LA Galaxy Real Madrid game, as it's just pure entertainment for me. Just excited to see what kind of energy we'll see at the Rose Bowl. Mark, Jody and me drank a whole bottle of Chivas last night and I totally forgot about the game. But lucky enough that I woke up just on time this morning to put in my 10 Euro bet on Real Madrid for the big friendly. Yea Mourinho is an arrogant fook. I hate him too, but today I just don't think Bruce Arena has anything over Jose Mourinho. Real is just like that. So, let's see if my 10 Euro can gain me that 4.7.

Waiting for that 7.30pm (Pacific) game to start.

Oops maybe not. It's tomorrow morning. LOL. Anyway, the 10 Euro is up, we'll see what happens tomorrow

    Bob Marley playing football

Man United on Fire. Full on entertainment in America MLS Allstar 1 - Man Utd 5

Manchester City may be buying up players but Manchester United definitely got it together from the business point of view. This whole Manchester United tour in the US is definitely a very successful campaign, it boosted their own popularity in America and it really helped created the hype that was needed in America. There were a lot more online live streaming links than the Man City game with Club America, it was full on action packed. Mexico fans were going nuts in Houston when Chicharito came on the 62 mins. Where else to host this game in the US?

A lot of people have been telling me that Man City will win the title just because they buying up the very best. Maybe, It will be interesting when the season starts. But I believe Man City still have lots of work to do when it comes to marketing.

Man Utd scored the first one right after kick-off and finished off with a Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez goal. Tell me that's not a marketing campaign. the game ended 5-1

    MLS All-Star vs Manchester United

    Reliant Stadium, Houston
    7.30 CT

The big MLS All-star game against the Manchester United. After a very bad lost to Kansas City, Man U will definitely want to come back for a win. But unfortunately this will be a rather tough one to predict as well because MLS-Allstar has just as many good players. Take a look. http://www.mlssoccer.com/2010-mls-all-star-game/mls-roster. Schelotto, De Rosario and the LA Galaxy duo Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan will definitely pose trouble for Man U. But on the other hand Nani is likely to start

This will be a very tricky challenge. I think I will have to go for Over bet to be on the safe side.

Maradona : AFA voted him out

Maradona is leaving as boss of Argentina. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/?cc=4716

Many things have been said about this guy during the world cup 2010. When he losses or draw a few matches he is lousy. When Argentina wins a few, whoa!! Maradona is not so bad after all. Then when Argentina didn't make it to the semis, he is lousy again.

Please watch this youtube clip put together by someone call jollyx13. Haters, lemme see you do this.

Kansas City made history defeating Man U at home with 10 men. 2-1

52thousand was the attendance in Kansas City. With people all the way from California. Kansas City Wizards, which is one of the mediocre team in the MLS won over Manchester United with only 10 men for more than a half.

Macheda, Berbatov, Scholes, Giggs were all playing but only managed to score one thru a Berbatov penalty. Superb performance from Kei Kamara and Davy Arnaud the two Goalscorers and first half goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen. No doubt it was just a friendly but Man U just couldn't score in Kansas. This will go down in the history book for Kansas for sure.

Watching the second match this morning, I have to say this is a new era. Football has finally arrived in America, for real. Thierry Henry looks really comfortable in the USA and America is enjoying every minute of soccer. What is there not to like about these games? It is very entertaining. It's got goals, lotsa goals. With the Premiere league clubs all out trying to test tactics, combinations and their new players and the quality US teams are putting out trying to keep up, it's just so fun to watch.

New York Red Bulls beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Red Bull Arena. Adebayor and Henry was just hide smiling at each other as the Red Bulls kicked-off. Henry didn't score on this one but we saw excellent partnership between Dane Richards and Macoumba Kandji from the Red Bulls. On the other end, partnership between Jo and Adebayor created the goal for Man City. Richards was named man of the match, he totally deserve it. It was yet another very entertaining match at the Red Bull Arena. Next United in "Kansas"?

Even I have underestimated this one myself. What they call a pre-season friendly turned out to be an action-packed 90 minutes. The stadium atmosphere was excellent. Someone even mentioned that this has to be one of the best matches hosted in the US. Robbie Keane started it off with a 23' goal but immediately responded by Matias Fernandes just 2 minutes later for Sporting. Right after halftime on the 47' Jaime Valdes put one in for Sporting. Later returned by young spurs star Jonathan Obika who was named Man of the Match at the end. 2-2 draw. This has the most exciting post-world cup matches I have seen

It's Not What You Make, It's What You Keep

Someone mentioned to me yesterday that professional football is really corrupt. I thought to myself, what is new. The guy continued, saying that there was once he betted on 6 Spanish league games. On that night alone there were ridiculous amount of yellow cards and most of the games went against his prediction. 6 games on the same league at one night? How do you even monitor all of them at once? The guy must have all sorts of satellite dishes and computer servers to stream these matches. And the guy must have excellent attention span.

There were times that I have been guilty of putting bets on games that I am not sure of and did not monitor. But I have learnt it the hard way and it is just so important to be monitoring live. Especially soccer. It is the kind of sports that anything can happen at anytime. And I've also noticed that asian punters just loves to go for the + bets, meaning accepting goals on Asian Handicap bets picking the weaker team rather than the stronger. They do that because the payout is way better. Indeed, sometimes the stronger team just won't score as many goals. I don't blame them, everybody wants to make a profit. Unfortunately, the bookmakers are there because they also want to make money. If the casinos don't make more money than you, there won't be any casinos at all. If the brokers don't make more money than you, there will be no platform to monitor stocks and forex on. Everybody wants to make a few extra bucks, but what they have forgotten is the odds are the way they are for a reason. Monitoring what you bet on is just so important.

I can't understand people who put bets blindly on sports and complain when the results end up against them. They forgot that, all the people involved on the match is there because it's a job to them. They get paid. From the guys who makes the big bucks on the field to the cameraman. Get it?...

Heard of the phrase "It's Not What You Make, It's What You Keep".

Look there's even a book written on it.

    Yannick Djola - Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester City vs Sporting Lisbon - Barclays New York Challenge
    Red Bull Arena
    8pm EST

Previews prior to the game says Sporting Lisbon should be a little more serious in this game than Man City as they have the Europa league ahead of them. Indeed that was true, but they were wrong by adding that Man City would win anyway. Yannick Djola, Portugal national scored both first half goals and continued looking dangerous throughout the game.

Sporting will be Away meeting Danish team FC Nordsjælland for Europa League Thu July 29 2010. Second leg will be on August 5 Home the Estadio.

    Sporting looks ready.

For newbies info - Cristiano Ronaldo played for Sporting Lisbon from 2001-2003 before getting picked up by Manchester United.

    MLS is getting there

I saw a tweet earlier, somebody posted to reply to someone else "MLS is getting there. Yes, I agree the MLS is definitely getting there. MLS has always been in the shadow. In fact, I myself have just started following the MLS. I watched 2 games hosted in the US today. I was amazed at the energy at both games, east coast and west coast. The stadiums were packed. It was totally enhance like NFL. I think it's already there. The problem is there's just not enough publicity here in Asia, where most people are at work. And in Europe, most people are asleep at 4 or 5 am in the morning.

So, I turned on the TV this morning just to try my luck on the local sports channels, all I got was WNBA live. Can anybody tell me who watches WNBA here in Asia? Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the WNBA is quite exciting. I just don't believe that there are more viewers for a WNBA match than a football match in Asia. C'mon broadcasters, it's Henry's first game with the NY Red Bulls.

    scroo the broadcasters, try here.
